G-Shock Men's Orange Resin Strap Watch Review

G-Shock Men's Orange Resin Strap WatchThis is a typical G-Shock...except it is orange. It is a great boating watch due to the color. If it happens to become dislodged from your wrist and fall overboard, it is clearly visible to recover. It has all the same functions and versatility of most Casio G-Shock watches. The watch is fairly thick so it is not as comfortable as a thin dress watch...but you didn't buy it for dress, you bought it for function and visibility. This specific watch comes in blue, black, and red, in addition to orange. The G-Shock line of Casio's are virtually indestructable. It makes a very good watch for outdoor activities.I boat, swim, ski, dive, get it muddy and sandy, and shower in the watch. If it has any negatives it would be the backlight illumination is just a little weak and the watch is bulky, so it catches on ski vests or other clothing.

G-Shock Men's Watch G-Shock G-7800-1DR - WW Review

G-Shock Men's Watch G-Shock G-7800-1DR - WWReview of My new G7800: like a greatly improved 5600!
I just received my G7800 (positive display, black, brushed stainless steel around the face) and I really like it. The digits are not annoying at all. I was afraid that the digits would be too 'tile like' but they are fine. They are bold enough to see at a glance. The time is perfectly placed right in the center of the watch! Can you imagine- a g shock with numbers perfectly placed, and no silliness filling up the screen? No more searching for the actual time amongst distractions! I was able to make the fonts on the day/date year fine, so that the time stands out more.

The watch has a very nice brushed steel front. Basically the styling is very similar to the 5600's. It is like a 5600, but upgraded and more modernized. It is a 5600 without as much nerdiness. It has a classy but tough look to it. It looks like it will hold up better than the 5600 cosmetically, thanks to the steel! It might be a tad more raised than the 5600. You really cannot go wrong with this one.

The watch is not atomic, which, to me, means that it should last longer than 1.5 years. I have had 3 atomic casios, and all 3 have died within 1.5 years. I wouldn't have bought it if it were atomic.

I think that we may have a perfect G shock here, which i didn't think existed. The only thing is that the band is a little stiff. Hopefully it will soften up with time. I might dip the straps in boiling water to help them along.

I can tell that I am going to wear this one constantly. It took over a year, but I am glad that I have finally pulled the trigger. $75, off of amazon, came in 4 days.

I could go on about the functions, but why bother? I just use it to tell the time, and to time myself at the gym and on my lunch hour. World time, timers etc..

Really guys- if you have been on the fence on this one- it is well worth pulling the trigger on this one. It is just a fantastically evolved dw5600. Maybe that is why they called it the 7800? They have taken the 5600 (which to me has always been a perfect watch) and they have dressed it up. They have brought the 5600 into this century. You can't go wrong here.

Don't be turned off by the tile like digits- that effect goes away when you see the watch in person. It was my biggest concern, but now it is not an issue.

G-Shock Men's Watch G-Shock 10-year Battery Life Models G-2900F-1VDR - WW Review

G-Shock Men's Watch G-Shock 10-year Battery Life Models G-2900F-1VDR - WWI love this watch. For years I bought $10 watches and expected them to eventually break and be thrown away. When the last one broke, I decided to try a $50 watch and picked the G-Shock Men's Watch. It is a thick, tough, functional, and waterproof watch. I love the e-data feature. I have replaced alarms on my phone with this function. The band it really tough. I had it get caught on a cupboard door and it pulled me to the floor.

Casio Men's MTG920DA-1 G-Shock MT-G Atomic Solar Watch Review

Casio Men's MTG920DA-1 G-Shock MT-G Atomic Solar WatchThe strap/links on these G-Shocks are quite oversized: when I first got it, I could fit the watch around my legs! (You'll most likely have to get the links adjusted). Ironically, the four side buttons on the watch is small. So even if you have a huge wrist, you'll probably have trouble pressing the buttons! (Not for huge fingers)

***BEWARE*** the picture shows the four side buttons on the watch in silver, but the left and right side buttons on this model is actually plain black! It is quite misleading! The silver side button is actually the MTG920DJ model (which is the 2005 version). According to Casio, the MTG920DA was actually released in 2004 with black side buttons. If you search the Casio website, it will only display the MTG920DJ (their most recent version); most websites that still sell the MTG920DA are just taking the latest MTG920DJ version picture from Casio's website. The MTG920DJ seems to have the same features as this one (MTG920DA), except the four side (left and right) buttons are in silver.

For those of you wondering about the three circles on the watch:
the first one on the very left is basically a wannabe-analog display - basically, every five minutes, a bar increases (or decreases when it gets full); it's just mostly there for cosmetic reasons.

The second one in the middle is the battery status; it has an L (Low), M (Medium), and H (High) and the bar would display in one of those areas. If you get out in the sun a lot or know an area in your home where the sun shines a lot, then you won't have a problem with the battery ever going below High. Moreover, it has a power saving feature; the watch will go into sleep mode (display off) when it is in a completely dark area for a long time.

Finally, the third circle on the very right is where it tells you what options are enabled/disabled. It shows SPL (split time for stopwatch), DST (Daylight Saving Time), SIG (Hourly Signal), ALM (Alarm), SNZ (Snooze), and Auto EL (Automatic Electro-Luminescent backlight - the backlight turns on by tilting it a certain degree towards your face without having to manually press the backlight button.)

Keep in mind, synchronizing with the atomic signal is not instant: it usually takes around 3 minutes (at least for me, I live in California.) And if you're in a busy area or near an electronic, it might be difficult; try again or move to a different area. Moreover, it should show you the strength/level (4 levels) of the signal (while you're synchronizing) with a satellite icon on the watch. There is also a feature that automatically synchornizes for you while you're sleeping at 2:00AM, 3:00AM, 4:00AM, and 5:00AM. Therefore, it's not always necessary to syncronize it yourself because by the time you wake up, it should be ready to go.

Overall, this watch is attractive and fun to wear. The atomic radio signal feature is very cool; having the official time is great - right to the precise second! I've had this watch for months now, and I enjoy wearing it daily.

This watch does have a lot of feature - except, it's a pity it does ***NOT*** have a countdown timer!

Pros:
- Cool design
- Water/scratch resistant; G-Shock are known for their toughest watches. (Update: I've worn this watch daily for almost a year and a half now and not a single scratch - still looks brand new!)
- Solar Power; battery life is excellent; never had the power ever go below High. Power Saving Feature.
- Position of the time and date is easy to read at one glance.
- Metal strap
- Can display World Time with Local Time

Cons:
- The side buttons are small and tight to press (must use like the very tip of the fingers)
- Atomic signal takes too long manually, and it usually is not possible to synchronize while wearing the watch; if you're inside the home, it is usually best to take off the watch and leave it near a window.
- Alarm beep can be a little longer perhaps (even my inexpensive Timex Watch would beep and it would gradually beep faster, which I actually like a bit better.)
- No countdown timer. (How could they forget this?!)

Also, try to research other models instead of finding out the hard way (like I did about the side buttons) before purchasing.

Casio Men's G511-1AV G-Shock Ana-Digi Black Shock resistant Sports Watch Review

Casio Men's G511-1AV G-Shock Ana-Digi Black Shock resistant Sports WatchOver the past year, I wore out four watches. My first one was an atomic watch. Hard to let that feature go, but the band was too cheaply made. The next watch was a military issue. The winding knob fell off one day. In the morning it was there. At the end of the day, it was gone. Don't know what happened to it.

I ended up getting the G-Shock. I've worn it daily for the last eight months or so. The band is still good. It's not starting to come apart. You can't even tell which eyelet I put the tongue in everyday. There's no wear at all. It's gone through barbed wire, rocks and sand. It's bumped around on humvees, helicopters and airplanes. The battery is still good and the metal still shines. There are minimal scratches.

Negative: It's a trick getting used to which button does which function. It's also a pain to change the analog time when you move across time zones. The hand only advances, there's no counter-clockwise movement for the hands. But that's really it.

I think this is the best watch I've ever had.

One of the folks that I work with also has this watch and he's the kind of guy who will spend $1000 on a watch without flinching.

It's a tough watch. It's attractive. It's not so big that it looks more like a belt buckle on your wrist. It doesn't give you altitude and it doesn't pay your taxes. It does, however, keep time with wonderful consistency. The blue/green light won't ruin your night vision.

If you are going through Amazon's catalogue like I was looking at the $400 watches and drooling. Take a break, save some cash and enjoy this watch.

Casio G-Shock Watch GWM5600-1CR Review

Casio G-Shock Watch GWM5600-1CRYou'd think with the "5600" suffix they would have just taken the venerable DW5600 and just added solar and atomic time - but they had to go and mess with it.In short, the watch has a couple "Huh?" moments that make you wonder what the designers were thinking:

Countdown timer is only an hour, not 24 hours - but the stopwatch goes for 999 hours.Huh?
Doesn't show time in all modes.(nice to have in the 5600)
No second time zone.(to be fair, the new 5600s dropped this too)
Can't set countdown in seconds, but it counts down in 1/10 seconds?(can't use it for interval training, this irked me the most)
No auto-repeat of timer.(same as above)

Plus I hear that the batteries in these solar models don't last any longer than if you bought a 5600 and just used regular ole dimestore lithiums - which are like a fifth the cost.Note that I didn't ding it for this, but go do your own research on how long the batteries really last if you are buying this in order to not have to buy batteries again.People have had 5600s running on their original batteries for ten years.

I sent this one back and bought a DW5600E.If the GW5000 turns out OK I might get one of those.

Casio Men's G9000MS-1CR G-Shock Military Concept Black Digital Watch Review

Casio Men's G9000MS-1CR G-Shock Military Concept Black Digital WatchFor start, the design of the watch is great. The visual bulk of the watch disappears as soon as it's on your wrist; it doesn't sit as high on your wrist as some G shocks tend to and the rubber strap is quite comfy. The buttons on the sides of the Mudman are large but a little stiff due to the one piece construction of the buttons and case to greatly reduce mud from entering inside the case. The shortcoming with the G9000MS-1 model specifically however is the display.Forget about trying to read it in low light conditions at all, and even when there is adequate light, you may find yourself tilting it at just the right angle in order to read the digits. The smaller details of the display such as the alarm indicators are all but impossible to read without the backlight.Once the backlight is activeated, the digital display characters go from a dull red to a bright blue, and the white words around the display are lit up in a bright white.Aesthetically, the blacked out face in combination with the black case, band and metal bits make it fit the theme well. The G9000MS-1 is still as practical and durable as any other G Shock, just expect to get more use out of the backlight.

Casio G9000-8V Review

Casio G9000-8VPros:It's like an M-1 Abrams on your arm. It's tough, can absorb lots of punishment (mine has survived a couple of biking accidents, extreme cold, and spent a whole night in the toilet thanks to the kids), and works great.

Cons: It's like an M-1 Abrams on your arm. It's bulky and heavy. When I walk holding my son's hand I have to make sure that the watch is on the other arm so it doesn't hit him in the head.

Overall the features are great, especially the light, and the watch works as advertised under the worst of conditions.

Casio Men's G7900A-4 G-Shock Rescue Red Digital Sport Watch Review

Casio Men's G7900A-4 G-Shock Rescue Red Digital Sport WatchWhen I saw the cool red color of this watch i had to buy it...everyone should have at least one watch that is unique and stands out from the dreary black/white world of normal everyday watches...these G-Shock Casios (I have a few) are so rugged, extremely well built and reliable they will probably outlive us all.The only reason this gets 4 stars from me instead of 5 is that the initial set up is somewhat complicated and time consuming...whatever you do, DO NOT LOSE THE OWNER'S MANUAL!...you will need it!

Casio Men's GW6900-1 G-Shock Atomic Digital Sport Watch Review

Casio Men's GW6900-1 G-Shock Atomic Digital Sport WatchThis is my first Casio watch and up until the time of purchase, I had been one of those "$5-$20 cheap-o sport watch" buyers. So if I were going to spend anything around $90 for a sport watch I would need to make sure it was worth the cost. After reading an article on a men's health/lifestyle website about fashion ([...], I think), they recommended the g-shock series by Casio since they offer a lot of functions and good quality for around $90. I found the GW6900-1 on sale for around $70 and I decided to buy it figuring I could always return it later if it didn't work out. Here are my observations on the two main selling points...

Design: The GW6900-1 is very basic. It's modeled off of the original DW6900 (Casio Men's G-Shock Classic Digital Watch #DW6900-1V) which is apparently G-Shock's best-selling case design. Personally, I feel that the numbers on the display are a little small. But I really like how it's not too crowded or junked up by unnecessary frills. The three circular dials above the time/day/date display are quite simple and indicate 1) the battery strength, 2) which functions are enabled (alarm, snooze alarm, hour signal beep, auto EL and button mute) and 3) a 10-second count indicator. The case/band isn't the sleekest looking - there are more modern styles out there - but it's not ugly by any means. Also, it's a little on the bulky side (doesn't exactly fit under a shirt cuff), but I don't feel it eats up my entire wrist. The 4 function buttons are easy to press and their labels are nice and straight-forward with alternate operations shown just inside the frame. Very easy to follow and operate.

Functions: The product description above pretty much lays out all the cool stuff this watch has going on for it, so I'll try not to be redundant here. I do want to highlight some of the operations that make this worth the price tag.
- Auto-EL (electro-luminescent): One thing that impressed me about this watch even before I put it on was the "smart" back-light. As I removed it from the box, I noticed the back-light come on. I thought something was wrong with it at first, but as I read through the manual I learned that this nifty function is *supposed* to happen. The watch's light turns on for about 1.5 seconds (or 3, your choice) in a dark room when you tilt your wrist towards your eyes without the need to press the button. How cool is that?! You can disable this to save on battery life if you want, but I doubt it's all that necessary. Which brings me to...
- Battery Life: This sucker is equipped with a solar powered battery that lasts up to 10 months on a full charge. Further exposure to light will keep it going and that goes for everything from direct sunlight, to light filtered through windows even to fluorescent lighting found in most buildings. Chances are good that given the amount of interaction most humans have with the sun or other light sources, you won't need to worry about this dying on you anytime soon. (That is unless you're a vampire or really into the goth scene.) Also, it has a power-saving mode you can apply that causes the watch to go into "sleep" mode during the hours of 11pm and 6am.
- Atomic Timekeeping: Like pretty much every cell phone, this watch calibrates time automatically. But it does it in 48 cities across 31 times zones all while taking daylight saving into account. And it runs about 5-6 times in the wee hours of morning just to make sure. (You can set time yourself too if you'd like.) Also, it's classified as multi-band 6 which means it automatically receives signals from pretty much every main radio point around the world (U.S., England, Germany, China and Japan).
- Waterproofing: This is probably a moot point, but I found it neat to learn that with a 20BAR/200M rating, you can pretty much use this while scuba diving.
- The rest: It's got 4 regular alarms and one snooze ("persistent") alarm. A stopwatch that lets you measure elapsed time, split time and two finishes. A countdown timer (which is a non-negotiable for me given that it comes in handy whether your cooking something or doing laundry). Full auto-calendar (pre-programmed until the year 2099) and optional 12/24 hour formats.

That's about all I can really think of. I'm *extremely* pleased with my purchase and intend to have long, happy relationship with this watch!

Casio Men's GW9200-1 G-Shock Riseman Alti-Therm Solar Atomic Watch Review

Casio Men's GW9200-1 G-Shock Riseman Alti-Therm Solar Atomic WatchBy bringing together the toughness of a G-Shock and the core features of a Pathfinder/ProTrek, the Riseman is doubtlessly the best G-Shock on the market.

The Riseman is a technological tank: wrapped in a solid, eye-pleasing, and elaborate shield with brushed steel inserts is a high precision measurement instrument that gives very reliable readings of barometric pressure, altitude, temperature as well as reasonably accurate weather patterns. Fascinatingly, the watch gets its energy from the sun (or other minor sources of light, such as a bulb) and is the first watch in the world to synchronize time via radio waves from 6 different atomic clocks around the world (depending on your location). Other handy features: 24+ world times, 24hr stopwatch, 24hr countdown and 5 alarms.

The use of screen space in the main timekeeping mode is exceptional as it includes, besides the time, day & date, a 2-hourly reading of atmospheric pressure within the "red eye". This gives you an immediate idea of where the weather is going and adds a totally new spin on owning a watch that measures atmospheric pressure. The time is also displayed in all modes (except the altim.)

I found the Riseman extremely comfortable to wear throughout the day even in hot/humid weather thanks to the design of the band and despite its important size it is rarely invasive. The overall feel of the watch in your hands, and on your wrist, conveys the high quality of the materials used to achieve toughness as well as its unique look.

With its Gotham City inspired design, its cutting-edge features and its "battle proven" armor, the G-Shock GW9200 Riseman is definitely destined to become a milestone and a classic Master of G.
