Casio Men's CMD40F-7CB Technoware TV/Cable Remote Control Watch Review

Casio Men's CMD40F-7CB Technoware TV/Cable Remote Control WatchI bought this to replace an old one of over 10 years ago. Works well with
single TVs amd single VCRs (both limited in Brands that will work with watch.) CASIO needs to update for DVDs and combination TV/VCR &/or DVD
players. But they probably will not. Too bad -- could be hot seller.

Can go into a restaurant, and if they have the right model, you can
control their TV. At home, you can amaze family and friends with this
007 type device.

Casio Men's EDB610-1 Databank Digital Watch Review

Casio Men's EDB610-1 Databank Digital WatchI've owned 4 models in this Casio series as far back as ~ 1983.

The best model of the databank series, rating a 4/5, was the mid-1990s release with a mini-bulb for lighting and a silk screened keyboard ... it rated 4/5 because it was a real stainless steel case, the keyboard remained readable for its lifetime, it was easy to clean and it only died because I lost it.Both the strap and watch case lasted over 5 years, the LCD was more readable than the newer releases. It was not perfect though, because the light ate batteries and memory was not FLASH or eeprom memory ... you lost everything during a battery change.

Avoid the resin watch straps, they always break when you least expect it, whether its from Casio or others.Woven nylon with velcro bands can be bought at sports shops and are more durable. The cases for the 2000 models were all resin, the 'steel' ones were simply painted atop resin ... and I've lost 2 watches when the hole in the resin that holds the strap pins breaks, the watch case is useless.Since the earliest model new features are major improvements but prior features were removed, made come backs, or are removed again!I'm writing this detailed review in the hopes Casio will finally get a databank we can all rave about.

Navigation has rarely been a problem. In the older models, a beep in watch mode is different from others, so one can cycle through modes without looking at the screen.Keep the old mode, but GIVE A DISTINCT beep or sound as one enters a new mode as an option.

The background lumination went from a tiny power hungry micro-bulb to an ELD display, much more pleasing and power saving. This is a super plus. Please allow it to say ON as once cycles through MODES.

Make the numbers on the TIME, DAY and DATE readout HUGE and viewed by default. We don't need a year readout, that can be a shift- or scroll button item. The DB37H-1AV screen is ideal, just add a keyboard.

Make a calendar function.

The silk screen or painted numbers on the resin casing always fade with time.Silk screen flat keypads weren't as easy to use as raised keypads, but they kept their labels longer.Make a version with all raised or embossed labels that can be identified by touch.

The screw-on battery case is a dream, batteries can be user serviced. For a watch of this price, its not practical to have it serviced by a watch technician, it can be 25-50% of the cost of the watch!

Keep the password feature for all data and telememo.

The perpetual Schedule mode .. and multiple schedule memos is a key function I use, and the super compact 1 week look ahead schedule view on the LCD is great.I can keep anniversaries, birthday, holidays etc., in the watch and get an entire week's preview of upcoming events. This mode was removed in this watch, hence the 3 Star rating.

While a palmtop serves better than the DB, its easier and more convenient to just carry a watch, and actually serves as a more reliable backup for palmtops with ultra-crucial names, numbers and data, thanks to its low power consumption and non-volatile memory. If there is a way to upload schedules to a DB without loosing the current total amount of memory or the watches other features as other models have, it would be a plus.

Finally, as a watch it keeps excellent time.It really does keep to near +30 sec a month, usually moving slightly faster. This is referenced against US Standard time using the atomic clock time by NIST.gov

Casio General Men's Watches Data Bank CA-56-1UW - WW Review

Casio General Men's Watches Data Bank CA-56-1UW - WWNice watch for the money ... BUT a) it is incorrectly described as water resistant to 50m (165 ft) - it is only WR, not WR50 (ie you can't wear it swimming, carwashing, etc.) and b) it doesn't have a light, so you can't read it in the dark.

Casio General Men's Watches Data Bank DBC-32D-1ADF - WW Review

Casio General Men's Watches Data Bank DBC-32D-1ADF - WWThis is an excellent watch offering many useful functions for the money. In the timekeeping mode, the display shows the time in hour:minute:second format in the center of the LCD screen. Above this is the Day of Week shown in 3-letter abbreviation, such as MON for Monday. In the third line, the date is displayed in YYYY-MM-DD format.

Other display modes include DB (Database), CAL (Calculator), AL (Alarm), ST (Stopwatch), and DT (Dual Time). No matter in which mode, the current time will always be displayed on the third line of the screen.

In DB, the watch allows you to store 25 sets of three lines of alphanumeric characters. It is slightly difficult to enter the data because of keys have multiple functions. Unless you need to constantly update or change stored data, it is acceptable.

In CAL, the watch turns into a 8-digit basic arithmetic calculator, for those times you do not have access to a regular calculator. The keys are not tactile, and you must use your fingernail to "depress" the keys. Pressing a key, in addition to showing the corresponding digit on the screen, the watch provides an audio beep when your input press is registered. The AC (All Clear) function is on the side of the watch that is denoted the "C" button.

In AL, the watch allows the setting of five different alarms. One can be a snooze or one-time alarm, while the other four only one-time alarms. You can set the hourly time signal function, so that the watch will beep every hour on the hour.

In ST, the watch becomes a stopwatch that can track two finishes by using the Split function. The watch displays the tracked time in HH:MM:SS format in the center line of screen. On the lower line, another two digits shows the hundreds of a second time.

In DT, the watch will display the time of another time zone. Because the AM/PM indicator is pretty small and thus hard-to-see, I recommend using a 24-hour time format (set this in the timekeeping mode)so that when you check the time of another time zone, you won't inadvertently misread the time by 12 hours (for example, reading 3 PM as 3 AM).

All in all, this is a great watch given the plethora of features for the low price of less than $35.

The watch itself is plastic with silver metallic paint, while is watchband is metallic.

In order to adjust the size of the watchband, you need to remove some links. The watch manual does NOT provide any information on how to do this. I don't want to spend $10 or more to get a $35 watch sized to my wrist, so I decided to do it myself. This particular type of watchband has links that are more difficult to remove, but it is still do-able at home.

You need a small (1.4 mm or smaller) flat blade screwdriver and a small hammer (or something metallic and has some weight). Turn the watchband so that you can see the inside surface (the side that touches your skin when you wear the watch)of the links. There is an arrow embossed on each link. This arrow points in the direction that you should hammer out the "link pin" that, when removed, looks like the letter "L". Place the screwdriver tip against the "nipple indentation" of the link that you want to remove on the watchband, in a 10-15 degree angle, in the direction of the arrow, and lightly hammer it. The fitting is tight, so it won't come out too easily. If the link pin protrudes out enough after some hammering, you can use a plier to help getting it out. You should try to remove the same number of links from each side of the watch unit. Only links with embossed arrow indication is removable.

It took me a long time to remove the first link because I didn't know how the links are constructed. I didn't know how to go about removing the link pin. After I figured out that the "nipple indentation" is the place to hammer, and you must hammer it using the tip of a small screwdriver, in a 10-15 degree angle, in the direction of the arrow. If you understand the above statement, the rest is easy. Good luck and you just saved yourself some money, plus it makes you feel good that you can do this without a watch professional.

By the way, if you have the need to adjust the watchband of many types of watches, I would recommend buying a "watch band tool". Just search for the aforementioned term on Amazon.com, and it will give you lots of product options. I recommend the "16-Piece Deluxe Watch Opener Tool Kit Repair Pin Remover"; it's pretty cheap and it makes working on this much easier. It does NOT come with instructions however; you'd sort of have to figure it out yourself.

Casio Men's Watch DBC1500B-1 Review

Casio Men's Watch DBC1500B-1I just purchased the second of this type of Casio calculator watch. My first had lasted around 20 years. It didn't have the "Night Glo Keypad" though.Trying to hit the right key in the dark was the only complaint I might have had.I enjoyed all the features of my old Casio DBC1500 watch. The telememo and schedule memo kept a lot of this info handy. The calculator, which I used a great deal when grocery shopping, was very convenient. The timer and alarm also came in very handy. All in all, this watch has a lot of features for a very reasonable price.I decided to buy a new one because I had scratched the crystal and put some nicks in the metal face of my old one.I also lost a couple of screws and a spring the last time I changed the battery.

Casio Men's EDB610D-8 Databank Digital Watch Review

Casio Men's EDB610D-8 Databank Digital WatchThis watch does what it is supposed to do, but in such a fashion that it makes it unpleasant to use it. I am dropping it in favour of a Timex Data Link, after a week of use.

I was looking for a watch to store my contacts and also schedules, especially birthdays and anniversaries which for me are completely impossible to remember. I used to have an earlier Casio Databank which neatly stored them for me and I decided to go for the better and more modern model, supposing Casio had improved what I once had.

The Hardware: Very good looking, but AFTER A FEW HOURS OF USE it starts showing all kinds of scrateches, so if you are going to wear it on your wrist go for the plastivc model.
The display is difficult to read and Casio has managed to use two overlapping screens one with a bue-ish tone whick makes it impossible to read, the utilities menu, especially if you use the also blue light.
The keypad of the calculator, which is also used to enter data is quite difficult to use and unfriendly with your fingertips.

The Software. The utilities menu is well thought, but once you get to the utilities themselves, the disappointment comes, data is difficult to enter, and untastefully displayed, a pity for such a good looking watch.
The worst of all (and this is my fault) there is no schedule mode, only five alarms with which I can enter my precious data to remeber my mommy's birthday and the project's deadline. I have no use for this watch. Althoug scratched all over, after one week, it will make a fine birthday present for some kid to store his girfriend's phone numbers.

Casio, come on guys, design something that connects with the PC so we don't have to punch all our data in. It can't be that difficult.

Casio Men's DBC30-1 Databank Digital Watch Review

Casio Men's DBC30-1 Databank Digital WatchI've owned this watch for 7 and a half years, since I was in 7th grade. It's served me perfectly, through watch band breakings and new battery replacements. The printing on it never wore off on the calculator buttons, and the screen did not scratch easily. The battery replacements were easy.

I only now am finally moving on to the DBC310-1 - not because I want to, but because the plastic casing on the DBC30-1 finally cracked, and I can't connect the band to the watch anymore. The ironic thing is that the watch itself still works perfectly. I imagine it probably will work for longer then I'm alive.

An excellent watch. I'll never get anything but Casio.

CASIO CA53W-1 Watch with Calculator Review

CASIO CA53W-1 Watch with CalculatorCASIO watches are the best thing that has ever invented. I bought this watch a little less than a month ago and was shocked and awed by the amount of attention I received over it. Before I bought the CASIO CA53W-1 Watch with Calculator I was a nothing, I was no one, no one on my campus recognized me. All of the people I knew were stupid gaming retards, all they cared about was Modern Warfare 2 coming out soon. They were like "Sean come play Modern Warfare with us, it totally is the best game ever. Play Modern Warfare to tune your skills for Modern Warfare 2." and I told them to get some lotion and go into the bathroom because I wasn't playing any more video games, I was becoming a man. The first thing I did was to sell my xbox 360 and all its accessories on craigslist for $150 (I had a lot of stuff), the reason being was that I had an epiphany when they told me to play Modern Warfare with them. The epiphany is: there will always be new video games coming out, most of them aren't worth your time. Anyways so I sold my xbox, and then I got a haircut. Well I got many hairs cut and ended up getting a fashionable haircut like that of Edward Cullen on Twilight. I figure all the girls love him right? They all want to take him into the bathroom without lotion or Maxim, if I look like him, I will get all the babes. I also got a Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym, now I work out 3 times a week and I am totally ripped (well at least I'm ripping). I then purchased this CASIO CA53W-1 Watch with Calculator, the first girl that talked to me about it was Janet, from my circuit analysis class. She told me that she liked my watch, that maybe we should hang out sometime. Janet had always been my dream girl, smart, funny, engineering major, mildly overweight (but in a good way), and she loved CASIO watches. I mean who doesn't right? Well I decided that the first girl that talked to me about my watch was going to be the one. I left circuit analysis class walking next to Janet, my ex-friend Jake from Modern Warfare came up to me and asked if I wanted to play in 20 minutes. I asked him what 7251 times 8 was, he couldn't tell me. I flashed him my CASIO CA53W-1 Watch with Calculator and told him to go into the bathroom with some lotion and a copy of Maxim, he knew immediately that he would never talk to me again. I cannot more highly recommend this watch to anyone, it is comfortable, has a watch, calculator, alarm clock, and most importantly for Janet and I it has a stopwatch.

Casio Women's LDF40-7 White 8-Digit Calculator Watch Review

Casio Women's LDF40-7 White 8-Digit Calculator WatchI got this watch for my 9-year old and she loves it. When I told her they make watches with calculators on them she got so excited so I got her one as a gift. She uses the stop watch a lot when she has to time her piano lesson or reading time. It looks as good or better than the picture. I would have given it five stars except it has no light.

Casio Men's DBC310-1 Databank 300 Digital Watch Review

Casio Men's DBC310-1 Databank 300 Digital WatchI have been buying these watches because you can enter appointmentsinto the watch's memory using its keyboard rather than having to rely on a PC-based interface. The watch also has stopwatch and timer functions that I like. Other watches seem to lack this particular functionality. They rely on PC's to do the input which is inconvenient when you don't have a PC around.
Five stars for functionaliy.
Now to the problem. The body is weak. Typically the part where the pin holding the wrist strap is anchored to breaks off after about two years because the body is plastic. The gasket keeping the watch somewhat water-resistant distends. I wish they'd put this watch in a G-shock body.
One star for robustnes.
Overall 3 stars.

Casio Men's DBC32-1A Databank Watch Review

Casio Men's DBC32-1A Databank WatchI was attracted to the watch because it claims to have a battery that lasts 10 years!I look forward to the 10 year claim with considerable doubt. My Casio DataBank watches needed new batteries every year or two.Over the years I have owned six such watches. I have discovered it is possible to "kill" a DataBank by changing its battery.

Although it is labeled as a "unisex" watch, the DBC31A is only slightly smaller in size than the, formally, male DataBank. It is an acceptable size for a man, or a woman who wants a large watch. It has five alarms which can be set to go off at any time of any date. They are one time use and can not be used to remind you of recurring appointments without resetting the timer for each occurrence. It has a full stop watch function; but, it does not have a count down timer. The calculator can be used to make basic calculations. It has a few dozen pages into which information (like contact data) of various sorts may be entered. An LED is used to illuminate the face of the watch. It provides adequate light for night vision; however it is not as bright or "attractive" as the electroluminescent lighting in the DataBank.

If you do not have a need for a count down timer, the low cost and features of this watch make it a good choice.
