Casio Women's LCF30-7B Tough Solar Ana-Digi Sport Watch Review

Casio Women's LCF30-7B Tough Solar Ana-Digi Sport WatchBought two for my daughters. The item seems to be about the same size as men's, but the bracelet length is shorter and more manageable for women/girls.My girls 11 and 12 year old loved this (looks, style).I guess resin is another way to say plastic, but this look good and does not look cheap.

There are many attractive Casio watches that have both the atomic time sync, and solar powered -- but these are very thick for my taste (for my daughters -- too thick to wear often). This item just has the solar power option only and this watch is about as thick as other non-solar sports watches.

Positives
---------
- Easy adjustment controls, but IF and only IF, you are familiar with other Casio watches.Looks like Casio uses the common four button interface for most of analog/digital combo watches.
- For those not familiar w/ Casio button control,
Mode button cycles from clock => 2nd time zone time ==> count down timer ==> stop watch =>clock alignment adjustment to digital time value.
Adjust button cycles between time => date in clock mode, and fairly obvious use in other modes.
- Instruction is bit lengthy but clear, meaning you could follow instructions step by step to do adjustments without getting confused.Fairly logical if you are a geek (as I am).
- NEVER need to adjust the analog hands to set the clock -- just use digital time setting, and the analog hands go to the right place after leaving the digital time setting mode.Cool.
- Solar -- primary reason for selecting this watch. Not opening the case to change a battery also means that this is likely to remain water proof (165 feet per spec) for the life of the watch.Came fully charged after 7 days of shipping transit time -- probably means that Casio's claim that fully charged watch will last 6~8 month w/o sunlight is believable.
- Automatic back light works well, and the back light illuminate the digital display well but not the analog hands well (but readable).Negatives
---------
- Does not feel very thick but the watch is thick (13.8 mm is more than an half of inch thick (0.54"), but this is partly due to protective plastic bezel around the glass.Did not look bad on my 11 year old girls skinny wrist.
- As with any watch with more than one button, instructions and controls could be better, but I cannot see HOW it could be made better.

Neutral
-------
- Dual time zone name is clear for USA (Eastern, Central, etc, but not clear for the rest of the world, until you realize you need to use nearest major city's name.
- The analog hands WILL cover up a portion of the digital display -- and will annoy you if you want to use stop watch or read date (day is readable partially covered) on the half hour (or so).Price to pay for analog/digital combo watch with big analog dial.

Helpful Hints
--------------
- DO NOT confuse the time setting versus analog time (hands) to digital time (display) synchronization.Normally you should never use the 2nd mode.Time setting mode would display either day of the week or date, and analog/digital synchronization display the mode setting.
- Forewarning aside, if you are geek, you could use this for triple time zone, i.e. analog to show one time zone, digital skewed from the analog (intentionally) to show another, and the 2nd time zone, yet another.

Casio Men's PAW2000T-7CR Pathfinder Digital Multi-Function Titanium Bracelet Watch Review

Casio Men's PAW2000T-7CR Pathfinder Digital Multi-Function Titanium Bracelet WatchI've had it about a month and I'm very happy with it.The altitude/barometer sensor is accurate provided you give it a good initial reference, which I always do when climbing/hiking.I've read some complaints that the altitude is not accurate. But one should try to understand that outside air pressure can change with altitude and/or temperature.Cold air is more dense and pushes on the sensor harder than warm air.So if a cold front rolls in while I am on my climb, the altitude is going to read a bit lower than actual (as if I was further down in more dense air).Likewise, a warm front will cause the sensor to read a bit higher.Either of these situations is often obvious as you will feel & see a change in the weather around you.ALL pressure-based altitude sensors have this vulnerability. That's why pilots constantly adjust their altimeters based on local sea-level barometric pressure data along their path. The best thing you can do is set an initial reference before you climb and be advised of local forecasts.Just common sense stuff really. The compass is plenty accurate enough for routine navigation, and a good backup to the GPS in the canyons and back-country.

I've read other reviews about the alarm not being very loud on some pathfinders. This one seems quite loud - haven't slept through it yet and I use it every day.All the features are very easy to figure out - never had to crack open the manual (but I did anyways). It syncs up every night with the atomic clock, no problem (Houston, TX).Based on the specs, I thought it was going to look monstrous on my wrist but it doesn't.Looks really good to me.I did have to pull out several links to get the right fit (more on this below).

The watch is very light! for it's size. The band is a nice satin gray titanium with an effective locking mechanism on the clasp.Very comfortable, doesn't pull hairs, etc.PLEASE NOTE that even though the product specifications above state that the "case material" is titanium, it isn't.There seems to be quite a bit of misleading internet info regarding the case material. To me, the case appears to be an assembly of stainless steel (back), mystery metal (black knurled ring around the face - maybe aluminum) and plastic/resin (all the gray-ish part).I have to admit that, based on the description, I thought all the gray-ish stuff would be titanium.A little disappointment there but not much.Actually the case still looks new, it's the satin finish on the titanium band that scratches/scuffs quite easily. Some will probably cry about this.I am of a practical sort and this to me is a tool.I actually enjoy the battered, well-used look of my adventure gear.I'm very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this watch to others.Ordered it from Amazon one afternoon, had it the next morning with free overnight shipping.Practically instant gratification.

TITANIUM BAND ADJUSTMENT:
I'm adding this because it took a while searching goog to find out how to do this.Basically you need a pair of needle nose pliers and one of those larger paper clips.Using the paper clip held by pliers, you push the pin on the link IN about 1/8" in the direction indicated by the arrow on the inside of the band. Then grab the pin with the pliers where it's sticking out on the other side and pull it out with a steady action.Do this over a cookie sheet or something with edges. This is important!!! - There is a tiny metal tube that sits inside the hole in the smaller (male) side of the link.Do not lose this - it acts as the locking mechanism to hold that pin in place. To re-assemble - replace the tube in the hole if it fell out, align the links and push the pin back through in the direction of the arrow.Good idea to use the paper clip and pliers to counter sink the pin a bit so that it's equal on both ends. This should all make sense when you have it in front of you. This procedure may sound intimidating but it's really pretty easy.Just be thankful you heard about that tiny metal tube beforehand.

Cheers.

Casio Women's LTP1237D-7A Silver-Tone Shell White Dial Watch Review

Casio Women's LTP1237D-7A Silver-Tone Shell White Dial WatchLooks like the one my husband broke, but way different in quality- hey I know it's a cheap watch. It works fine it just feels sub par and the silver face of the watch creates glare making it very hard to tell the time depending on the lighting. Try it with the white face or blue face if you are going with this style.

Casio Men's G7700-1 G-Shock Trainer Multi-Function Shock Resistant Watch Review

Casio Men's G7700-1 G-Shock Trainer Multi-Function Shock Resistant WatchI bought this watch a week ago at an unbeatable price of $47 incl. tax and shipping (almost 50% off the RRP). What I wanted was a watch that was useful for athletic training (I'm an avid runner and swimmer). What I received was a superb well-rounded G-Shock that surpassed my expectations regarding the purpose of the watch, one that has several unique features that other G-Shocks presently do not feature:
*1/1000 stopwatch with split and 999 lap time functions--perfect for athletic training, getting splits etc. while running or swimming.
*Auto-start feature--a 5 second countdown prior to starting the stopwatch, with cool animated graphics.
*2 100-hour countdown timers, adjustable to the second--ideal for interval training on long runs.
*Customizable alarms for weekend and weekday--great for people like me who have to wake up at 7am on weekdays and noon on weekends without having to constantly switch on/off different alarms.
*Customizable hourly signal--set it so that it only beeps on the hour during any specified period (ie. 7am-11pm), so that it doesn't beep while sleeping.
*Flash alert--red and green LEDs go off in sync with the alarms and stopwatch auto-start systems. With the stopwatch auto-start, the LEDs are employed to create a cool motor races effect by having red lights going off in sync with the countdown and green lights going off at the start itself.

Other features of the watch:
*World time in 48 cities--48 cities is new for me, previous G-Shocks only had 27 or so, perfect for frequent travelers like me.
*EL backlight (blue-green) with auto-EL function.
*A very comfortable strap with good fit, and a thin case (by G-Shock standards) makes for one of the most easy-to-wear G-Shocks ever.
*Buttons are extremely easy to push. Some users have complained that the "G" button on the front of the watch, which activates the EL backlight, is hard to press; that wasn't the case for me.

Some cons:
*EL backlight duration (1 second)--too short for me, especially on a display with so much information, presumably to increase battery life. 2 or 3 seconds would be ideal.
*Non-solar powered--given all the power-hungry features of this watch, solar power would be ideal, so as not to worry about running down the batteries with all the alarms, lights and all.

However, these are minor issues. I'm sure this watch would suit anyone out there--by far one of the most feature-packed yet comfortable-to-wear and stylish G-Shocks out there, perfect for any occasion.

Casio Men's GW6900-1 G-Shock Atomic Digital Sport Watch Review

Casio Men's GW6900-1 G-Shock Atomic Digital Sport WatchThis is my first Casio watch and up until the time of purchase, I had been one of those "$5-$20 cheap-o sport watch" buyers. So if I were going to spend anything around $90 for a sport watch I would need to make sure it was worth the cost. After reading an article on a men's health/lifestyle website about fashion ([...], I think), they recommended the g-shock series by Casio since they offer a lot of functions and good quality for around $90. I found the GW6900-1 on sale for around $70 and I decided to buy it figuring I could always return it later if it didn't work out. Here are my observations on the two main selling points...

Design: The GW6900-1 is very basic. It's modeled off of the original DW6900 (Casio Men's G-Shock Classic Digital Watch #DW6900-1V) which is apparently G-Shock's best-selling case design. Personally, I feel that the numbers on the display are a little small. But I really like how it's not too crowded or junked up by unnecessary frills. The three circular dials above the time/day/date display are quite simple and indicate 1) the battery strength, 2) which functions are enabled (alarm, snooze alarm, hour signal beep, auto EL and button mute) and 3) a 10-second count indicator. The case/band isn't the sleekest looking - there are more modern styles out there - but it's not ugly by any means. Also, it's a little on the bulky side (doesn't exactly fit under a shirt cuff), but I don't feel it eats up my entire wrist. The 4 function buttons are easy to press and their labels are nice and straight-forward with alternate operations shown just inside the frame. Very easy to follow and operate.

Functions: The product description above pretty much lays out all the cool stuff this watch has going on for it, so I'll try not to be redundant here. I do want to highlight some of the operations that make this worth the price tag.
- Auto-EL (electro-luminescent): One thing that impressed me about this watch even before I put it on was the "smart" back-light. As I removed it from the box, I noticed the back-light come on. I thought something was wrong with it at first, but as I read through the manual I learned that this nifty function is *supposed* to happen. The watch's light turns on for about 1.5 seconds (or 3, your choice) in a dark room when you tilt your wrist towards your eyes without the need to press the button. How cool is that?! You can disable this to save on battery life if you want, but I doubt it's all that necessary. Which brings me to...
- Battery Life: This sucker is equipped with a solar powered battery that lasts up to 10 months on a full charge. Further exposure to light will keep it going and that goes for everything from direct sunlight, to light filtered through windows even to fluorescent lighting found in most buildings. Chances are good that given the amount of interaction most humans have with the sun or other light sources, you won't need to worry about this dying on you anytime soon. (That is unless you're a vampire or really into the goth scene.) Also, it has a power-saving mode you can apply that causes the watch to go into "sleep" mode during the hours of 11pm and 6am.
- Atomic Timekeeping: Like pretty much every cell phone, this watch calibrates time automatically. But it does it in 48 cities across 31 times zones all while taking daylight saving into account. And it runs about 5-6 times in the wee hours of morning just to make sure. (You can set time yourself too if you'd like.) Also, it's classified as multi-band 6 which means it automatically receives signals from pretty much every main radio point around the world (U.S., England, Germany, China and Japan).
- Waterproofing: This is probably a moot point, but I found it neat to learn that with a 20BAR/200M rating, you can pretty much use this while scuba diving.
- The rest: It's got 4 regular alarms and one snooze ("persistent") alarm. A stopwatch that lets you measure elapsed time, split time and two finishes. A countdown timer (which is a non-negotiable for me given that it comes in handy whether your cooking something or doing laundry). Full auto-calendar (pre-programmed until the year 2099) and optional 12/24 hour formats.

That's about all I can really think of. I'm *extremely* pleased with my purchase and intend to have long, happy relationship with this watch!

Casio Men's A168W-1 Electro Luminescence Digital Bracelet Watch Review

Casio Men's A168W-1 Electro Luminescence Digital Bracelet WatchThis is your bare-bones basic electronic watch. Nothing particularly fancy, not a lot of whistles and bells - just what I was looking for. That being said, this is my second purchase of this particular watch. I bought the first one 6-7 years ago back when I was in construction. I wanted a nicer looking watch with a metal band that would look nicer when dressed up, but I prefer the digital ones because they keep perfect time. I literally wore the old watch out - my fault, not Casios - and have now purchased it again. The new one is just like the old one. It keeps flawless time, looks really nice, and was so inexpensive.

I simply wanted a nice looking digital watch that had a nice slim profile and kept excellent time. I didn't care for all the other fancy frills or features, all I want a watch to do is keep time.I hope this watch is available in another ten years (I no longer do construction) so I can replace this one when it wears out.Maybe I'll just go ahead and purchase another one now just in case.

Casio Men's SGW200-1VCF Pedometer Resin Strap Watch Review

Casio Men's SGW200-1VCF Pedometer Resin Strap WatchI purchased this watch to replace a watch/pedometer that I used for walking. When I received it I soon found out that the pedometer only works when you are running. Since I am not a runner it was useless to me so I returned it. Except for that one feature the watch while hard to use seemed to work well. Listing it as a pedometer is somewhat misleading.
